Official word sent to Mrs Phyllis Dale says her husband Cpl Clifford Francis Dale was slightly wounded in action and hospitalised. Aged 25, born in Galt, he served with the Dufferin Haldimand Rifles and the Eu x Scottish Regiment, went overseas in 1943, and saw action in France Holland and Belgium. His wife and five year old son Edward live with Mr and Mrs Sheenan at 1254 Hamilton Street, Freaton.

Acton Agricultural Society's 1944 fair organizers and helpers enjoyed a social night at the town hall. President Davidson led a card session won by Mrs G McGregor and others, then a program with Fr L Davidson as chair. Artist Frances Spihs and accompanist Margaret Somerville performed, Knox Church choir provided music, and a dance followed with local musicians.

United Church Completes Mortgage Burning Ceremony
The United Church held a mortgage burning service Sunday celebrating full payment of the Parsonage debt. Chairman Evan Jones outlined the 1928 loan of 2500 dollars, reduced by 1500 from a bequest and finally paid this year with praise to the Young People's Society The Friendly Circle and the congregation. Rev A W Fosbury led the service and spoke of future funds and new projects.
