The Acton business survey shows Christmas trade of 1933 as an overall improvement over 1932 and possibly best since 1928. Douglas Mapleton won a 13 lb 5 oz candy sucker in Harold Wiles’ window contest. Hinton’s jewellery store in Georgetown was robbed of about 75 dollars in watches and other items. 1933 set a record for marriage licenses issued in Acton with 24, surpassing 1921 patterns. The Christmas Tree event was cancelled with funds redirected to the Acton Welfare Board. Masonic officers were installed at Walker Lodge. The Acton Baptist Sunday School held its Christmas concert with Santa’s visit and varied performances.
