Christmas shoppers to win $200 draw Saturday

Merchants boost Christmas prize pool from 90 to 200 with nine winners. A clown band will announce the Santa Rama draw at 3 pm on the Y.M.C.A. steps. Vouchers from purchases are collected by coupons before the draw. Previous week saw 25 winners with no duplicates and one out of town winner from Toronto.

Halton County appoints James Singleton as Director of Education

The Halton County Board of Education named James W. Singleton to lead the system replacing eight boards. He brings 30 years in education with roles in Burlington as director and over 2,000 teachers across 11 high schools and 74 public schools. His salary is set at 25,000 a year for now.

Acton Survey Urges Indoor Pool for Year Round Recreation

Currie, county councillor and former warden in 1936, argues a comeback is possible after 32 years. Esquesing last held the post in 1936 and has had no warden since 1962.
