Halton Council Endorses Plan for Nationalized Sweepstakes
Halton County Council endorsed a resolution to nationalize sweepstakes or legalize them provincially to divert hospital costs back to Canada. The plan, backed by most, proposed using proceeds to defray hospitalization expenses while opponents argued against. Lanark County urged immediate action to address feed shortages and rising costs, warning of stock depletion if not tackled. The council also approved pay for canvassers in a Bangs disease vaccination drive and appointed several officials to schools and care facilities.
