Duncan Campbell Wins at Ottawa Shorthorn Judging
Duncan Campbell of Moffat won top honors in the Shorthorn division at the Central Canada Exhibition cattle judging in Ottawa on Tuesday with John Gardhouse and Sons of Wetton as runners-up. Campbell entries captured 13 firsts, six seconds and three thirds. Gardhouse & Sons took seven firsts, 13 seconds and six thirds. Grand Champion bull Double Minstrel owned by Campbell Farms, and Reserve Grand Champion Kinellar Lades were named. Other Campbell prizes included Double B Minstrales and Kinellar Lades entries across senior and junior classes, with Kinellar broadhoods and gipsy shown in junior and female classes.

Level Crossing Accident Near Elora Averts Tragedy
A Thursday evening collision at the C N R Mill Street crossing near Elora narrowly avoided tragedy when William Ford and Floyd Brohman failed to hear an oncoming freight train. Their truck suffered heavy damage but both men escaped serious injury and returned home after the vehicle was towed to an Acton garage.

The Acton Loyal Orange Lodge Held its annual parade from Willow Street Lodge Hall to the Baptist Church headed by Acton Citizens' Band. Visiting brethren from Guelph Georgetown Oakville and Glen Williams joined the harade and service where Rev. Baxter preached on the open book symbolizing the Order. After the service the parade reformed and returned to the Lodge Hall for dismissal.

A coroner's jury at Brampton found Harland Kentner Hustler of Norval died in an accident when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Wilfred McGregor of Toronto. The jury attached no blame to McGregor or to Albert Beadman of Moncton N.G. The deceased was 27 years old.

Angus Duncan Dies of Injuries in Paper Mill Accident
Angus Duncan, a Georgetown resident and Provincial Paper Mills engineer, died at Guelph General Hospital from internal injuries after a belt repair incident at the Georgetown plant Monday. He was active in lacrosse and hockey, long a junior hockey manager, and leaves two sons, Jack and Ross, with friends mourning across the district.

Freight Car Fire on Eastbound Train Near Acton
A freight car on an eastbound C N L R train caught fire shortly after leaving Acton station. The crew stopped and attempted to back to Acton but steep grade forced a sprint to Georgetown. Firefighters from Georgetown extinguished the blaze after the mattresses inside the car were burned. only the steel frame and ends remained.

Injured When Team Bolted On Farm Wagon
Mr John Moore of Speyside was injured when a team he was driving on his farm bolted. The wagon tongue broke, he was thrown to the ground, suffering several broken ribs and bruising. The team jumped a fence and the accident occurred Tuesday of last week. he remains bedbound with injuries and friends wish him a speedy recovery.

Electric Storm Leaves Town in Widespread Damage
