W G Fisher, 17, of Hanover, stole a bicycle from Edward Roadknight of Niagara Falls and sold it to H Kanis’s son for 65 with 4 remaining. An advertisement in the Free Press led Chief Harrop to locate Fisher in Malton where he worked. Fisher was convicted of theft in Milton Police Court and remanded. The Kanis brothers identified him as the seller.

Pte Elwood Collier Wounded in Action in France
Acton friends learned that Pte Elwood Collier second son of Major M B Collier of Toronto is wounded in France while serving with the Royal Regiment. He was injured on August 9th. His elder brother Lieut W M Collier has just returned from Italy and is now on staff at B TC Orillia.
Wool Combing Corporation Employees Gather For Park Event
Employees of the Wool Combing Corporation held a Saturday park gathering with each bringing lunch. A series of races and sports entertained attendees while Acton Boys' Band provided music. Organizers included Alvin Moore Madelene Mooney and Eileen Close for refreshments Kenneth McKinnon Fin lay Mellor and Aubrey Gervais ran the races Charlotte Tuck and Joan Robertson supervised the ball game.
