A farm team of horses bolted through a gate and slammed into a 1938 Ford car, causing about 500 dollars in damage. The wagon tore a hole in the car roof and one hoof damaged the vehicle while the team cleared a gate and struck a post before stopping.
Sidewalks in Acton received experimental paving with asphalt strips on two stretches. The Streets and Road committee considers a third site on a trial basis. Crews completed work on Mall Street between Jean and Frederick and on the west side of M Sinot between Mu and Church. The project uses asphalt adhesive and aims to compare cheaper paving materials for future repairs. Plans await committee guidance on next steps.

A five man jury returned a verdict of accidental death by drowning for Henry Labelle aged five at Fairy Lake Acton. The inquest, held in Acton town hall, heard eight witnesses including Red Cross divers. Witnesses described a search after the child was last seen at the wading pool and the body was recovered east of the diving pools. Coroner Dr G E Syer presided with Crown Attorney Peter McWilliams present.
Acton based Dills Purchase Co announced it bought the Baxter Laboratories of Canada plant on Willow Street. The firm plans to move printing operations from Mill Street to the vacant Baxter building in October after renovations. The new 22 000 square foot plant will allow expansion and rent excess space to other industries.
Strong protests against a wide open deer season in Halton County were voiced at the August Halton council meeting. County warden Robert Reid outlined potential limits while noting deer vehicle crashes and crop losses. The council asked for departmental action to reduce deer numbers and considered localizing hunts to mitigate harm.
Acton Park board approves a bylaw to fine nonpaying entrants at Prospect Park with penalties from five to twenty dollars or up to 210 days hard labor. a camping and overnight parking restriction bylaw is drafted and speed limits set on the race track.
The public school adds a 12 room wing with cornerstone laid next Monday morning at 11 30 am. Officials including School Board Chairman C W Bredhey Mayor W O H Cook and others attend as a preserved artifact and copies of the Acton Free Press are placed inside the cornerstone. Construction aims to be ready by fall with 1102 pupils anticipated.
Jee Maiani of Gaelgh Grrest suffered a painted breach of safety when he clipped a feer and fell into a cylinder at Beembemne cad bie bend. He was transported to Gasigh despite the efforts of supervisor 3. W. Welle for treatment and investigation.
