Harvest Flies Reported In Acton Area
Large flies again seen in the Adén district near Ross Ballentine’s Queen Street garage. Ballentine captured two of the harvest flies for evidence. Adrienna Seelen of Acton previously reported a one and three quarter inch specimen that lifted a goldfish from a bowl. The local flies measure about one and a quarter inches and remain unidentified by observers.

Acton Boy Hurt In Highway 7 Car Collision
A 12 year old Acton boy, son of Mr and Mrs. George Holmes of 46 Main Street, suffered cuts and bruises when his bicycle collided with a car on Highway 7. The driver Ubald Stebbins, 2200 Tamure Street, Tanmins, said the rider wobbled while passing and struck the car’s side as it approached.

George Barbeau of Acton sprang into action on Lake Sunes to save Paul McMinn from drowning after Paul’s twin brother Peter fell in. Barbeau and his wife assisted, deployed a marker buoy, then helped recover Paul as divers and grappling hooks searched the lake. Peter’s body was later found.
