Douglas Gowdy and two Canadian students arrived in Liverpool and met J Taylor secretary of the Acton Chamber of Commerce to deliver greetings from H B Moore ex president of Acton Chamber Canada. They toured the Lake District and other parts before planning to sell their Ford touring car on leaving for the Continent.
Police court in Grand Valley convicts a young woman named Church for selling silk hosiery without a license under the County Hawkers By-law, fined five dollars. In a separate hearing Police Magistrate Moore reviews a case involving I J Spry and Orrie Lamb over a week in April with disputed accounts and a $40 deficit, resolved with costs levied. Crown Attorney Dick and Mr. Mier prosecute, Mr. Clark defends.
Saturday morning Willian Fisher slipped on his residence steps, dislocating his right shoulder but is now recovering. The death of John Cullen longtime Acton resident occurred at his home on F Eu z itbosia Street Guelph with funeral held Saturday in Guelon Cemetery and Mrs Cullen surviving. Burlington Fire Brigade drill team, Milton and Acton bands plan an August 28 event in Acton with Detila to be presented later. Thomas Watson honored by Grand Valley businessmen with gold watch for twenty years service. Acton Tourist Park draws visitors fuelled by water access and Fairy Lake with plans for parking signs. A wedding at St Joseph Church Acton joined Marguerite Costello and Wilfred Duval amid formalities and gifts. Rev John Little preached two sermons at Byaw re'a Church Eramosa with emphasis on responsibility and action for United Church members. Ladies Aid Society hosts gathering at Knox Presbyterian Park Blue Spring with social activities and supper. guests Rev Dr Kannnwin Hamilton and family.

At the council meeting on Tuesday the Finance Committee presented its seventeenth report recommending payment to Actioneer Press Bell Telephone Co and others. The bylaw to raise highway penalties was discussed along with repairs to Victoria Avenue Queen Street crossings and other streets.

Sir Adam Beck founder of Ontario Hydro Electric Power Systems and longtime chairman of the Hydro Electric Power Commission died Saturday at his Headingley residence after a period of ill health. He served as London mayor 1902 to 1904 and shaped provincial power policy from 1906 onward. His death followed a battle with pernicious anemia and complications from blood transfusions at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His funeral drew large crowds in London and Hamilton. He had been active in municipal and provincial politics since 1902 and served again in 1923 as an Ontario legislator and minister without portfolio.
Acton defeated Mansewood 8 to 1 in a ten inning exhibition game at Mansewood last Saturday. Acton rallied with seven runs in the tenth after a tense ninth where Gibbons closed out the inning for Acton. McDonald started the decisive rally with a hit and the next hitters bunted for timely RBIs.
