G Corry Charged In Jewellery Theft In Guelph
Gordon Corry of Guelph was remanded for sentence after appearing in Inistrate Court on a charge of stealing jewellery valued at 100 from Mrs. A Parnell last Saturday. Corporal Mason testified he investigated, police arrested Corry after he wore the stolen rings, and Corry admitted drinking heavily and not remembering the theft. He said he later handed the items to his family while staying at Mrs. Parnell's home 34 Mam Street.

At a special council meeting Acton approved purchasing a second hand garbage truck formerly used by Kitchener. The 1946 Ford with hydraulic hoist and equipment costs totaled 425 dollars to the town, after trade in of the old unit and a 7200 dollar repling machine. Officials viewed and tested the truck in Kitchener and debated parking it away from residences while considering speed issues near the town entrances.

City approves sidewalk replacement on Mill Street
In a special session, Ceunen accepted Ch. Bo Mackenzie’s bid to replace sidewalk on Mill Street between John and Ming Streets. The 4 inch sidewalk will cost 41 cents per square foot for about 19 000 square feet, with 50 percent paid by property owners, and completion by September 1. The North side section between Willow and John Street will also be built at the same rate. Mayor Tyler presided with several officials in attendance.

Four Poliomyelitis Cases Reported In Halton
Halton County Health Unit reports three new poliomyelitis cases since August 1 bringing total to four. AActon boy Bill Churchill 13 taken to Sick Children's Hospital Toronto confirmed poliomyelitis. Other cases include a 43 year old Oak Hill man bulbar type, a 21 year old Toronto man no paralysis from a summer camp in Trafalgar Township, and a 12 year old Burlington boy with very mild symptoms. Health unit urges precautions and postpones immunizations at Child Health Centres until further cases are ruled out.
