Acton Honor Roll: 18 Volunteers Enlist for WWI Overseas
Fifty years ago 18 Acton area volunteers joined the First Canadian Division after enlistment began August 4 1914. Col Alec Noble led the call to serve overseas with 18 signing by August 17 including Wilfred Coles and F L Wright still living in town decades later. The group trained at Valcartier and Salisbury Plains before heading to the front in 1915.

Col Gordon Brown of Georgetown was injured when a 1962 Rambler collided with his car near Mount Albert on July 3. Mrs Hilda Shannon driving a Chrysler Imperial escaped with minor injuries. Brown suffered a crushed chest and pelvic injuries but improved after surgery. doctors expect a weeks of critical status with potential full recovery.

Seven Apply For Township Job In Nassagaweva Council
