The Adda Hydro Commission discussed new equipment to beat the heat on July 25. Mayor Les Duby urged a clear decision after viewing similar gear in Milton Oakville and St Marys. Police lights and pole removal plans were examined with cost concerns and town impact noted.
Harold Morris becomes owner of Cooper's Drug Store in Acton moving from Hamilton with his family. He served five years in World War II and studied at the University of Toronto. The Morris family plans to display antique pharmacy jars and integrate into local life while Miss Mackie and Miss Gibbons remain with the shop.
Georgetown considers buying the former post office building. A bid process and tender results are noted with estimates for renovation and funds, including a proposed price near 22 000 and financing through debentures.
Frank McNiven of Milton and Joe Gibbons of Georgetown were surprised guests as the Halton County Assessors Association awarded trainee membership certificates to two longtime officers. The presentation came at a gathering near Milton where association president Percy Spurgeon and others praised their decades of service across Nelson Nassaga and Milton townships and other posts.
Mayor Les Duby and council members awaited a fifth member for a quorum Tuesday evening as the crew of officials faced a vacant chair. Councillor Eric Johnston attended a committee meeting while Hamilton Peal and Hugh Lowe were away for holidays and Alec Johnson remained on vacation. The mayor sighed that vacancies prevent decisive action.
The first of two swimming lesson series concluded with 63 participants in the tadpoles and beginners groups. 34 passed. The next session starts August 6 after CJ Holiday, with juniors tested by Red Cree Water Safety examiner from Brampton. Pat Barrager led exams at the park while Miss Bar-tayer taught in Georgetown afternoons.
On duty in Os How Rodeo north of Maltog the Ambulance Brigade served Aug 3 and 4. Other duties included the Sisto Aciews Ranch horse show and Caledon Games.
Camp staff includes two Actonians with roles such as chaplain Rev Donald West rector of St Alban's and nurse Mrs George Hargrave. The team also features Sandia, Camp secretary Cohan Abe, and brigade member Mis Hat who has handled broken bones and multiple illness cases during the week.
A subcontractor Lindscape contractor is reported to have worked on sodding at the Churchill resort project this week. The job involved turf installation and landscape work for the resort area.
Cliff McKay stars at the fair with a gala program on Friday and Saturday. Mounttons will serve as master of ceremonies while De Carl Martin opens the fair and the Canadian square dancer headlines the parade of trophies and prizes.

Birch Hills announces a major recreation complex opening offering a nine hole golf course a 50 foot pool and facilities for swimming tennis archery ice skating and an outdoor theatre. The project includes a Marble Room lounge dining and a pro shop with plans for cottages and a dance center. Local investors from Toronto and Ontario towns supported the venture with strong early membership interest and regional access.
