Harold Morris becomes owner of Cooper's Drug Store in Acton moving from Hamilton with his family. He served five years in World War II and studied at the University of Toronto. Captain Won't Abandon Ship Amid Quorum Delay

Mayor Les Duby and council members awaited a fifth member for a quorum Tuesday evening as the crew of officials faced a vacant chair. Councillor Eric Johnston attended a committee meeting while Hamilton Peal and Hugh Lowe were away for holidays and Alec Johnson remained on vacation. The mayor sighed that vacancies prevent decisive action.

Swim Tests Begin Second Round of Lessons at Georgetown

The first of two swimming lesson series concluded with 63 participants in the tadpoles and beginners groups. 34 passed. The next session starts August 6 after CJ Holiday, with juniors tested by Red Cree Water Safety examiner from Brampton. Pat Barrager led exams at the park while Miss Bar-tayer taught in Georgetown afternoons.
