Ontario Education Amendments Extend Local School Grants
The Minister of Education announced legislation expanding support for local associations running schools for retarded children. Local groups retain property, with an Education Authority operating the schools and funded by the department at 70–80 percent of approved costs. The plan, effective January 1, 1905, aims to reduce reliance on charity for operating costs. It also covers water shortages with higher grants for reservoirs and a $500 pond subsidy, backdated to November 1, 1983, administered by Agriculture and Energy departments.
