Clarence E. Wood aged 69 lifelong Nelson Township resident died Monday at Guelph Line. He served as Relief Secretary for Nelson and as director of Halton Union Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance. Survived by wife and three daughters Annie Helen and two others, at home.

Acton Public Utilities Commission Ends Range Campaign
The Acton Public Utilities Commission held a Tuesday meeting with members Hansen McCutcheon Kerr and presiding Kerr. The panel approved paying several hydro and waterworks bills and authorized a 500 transfer from Waterworks to the General Account. The commission approved entering the Range Campaign for Ontario Hydro and instructed the secretary to contact local dealers. They also approved 15 dollars for a new electric stove installation and budgeted a summer helper at 30 cents per hour for line repair work.

The Annual Presbyterial Yo P S of the Guelph Presbytery met at St Andrew's Church in Guelph with over 250 members from various Y P S groups. Robert Harrison led the gathering. Frances Mortimer welcomed visitors. The Bible drama finals featured Duff's Church Y P S of Puslinch and Galt Central Y P S with praised performances. Norman Wright conducted a ten minute song service. Grace Morrison read scripture and Isabel Scott led prayer. The closing benediction was by Pew Job Burgess. Grace Cation oversaw the drama presentations and St Andrew's Y P S hosted refreshments. Norman Wright was named Fellowship Convener for the coming year. A contingent from Acton Y P S Guild attended.

Excessive Speed Blamed in Death of George Frederick
A coroner jury in Acton Ontario ruled that George Frederick of Oshawa died March 9 1938 on Highway No 7 seven miles west of Acton due to excessive speed by driver Peter Opuchancy. The crash overturned the coupe, broke a hydro pole, and caused fatal head injuries. Witnesses described the car passing at 45 to 50 mph with variations. Dr J A McNiven conducted the autopsy confirming a depressed skull fracture and instantaneous death.
