Acton council approves five Reisman model homes on Wallace St

Search for body south of Acton Ends after four days of digging

Police abandon hopes of locating Marianne Schuett in a crevice near the Bruce Trail in Esquesing Township two miles south of Acton. The 10 year old vanished April 27 1967 after seen entering a man's car near her school. The long case drew thousands in Ontario wide search efforts and remains open though the latest excavations yielded no evidence.

Police end fruitless dig near Speyside in snow bound search

Insp Lidstone Lt Smith and a Burlington team retraced a rocky hillside area near the Third Line crossing to locate a missing body in the Schuett case. Heavy snow and rock impeded digging despite dynamite aid and a press briefing, with no findings by Monday afternoon. Authorities kept spectators back from the site as they concluded the search without success.

Trapped driver suffers severe leg and hip injuries

Adrian Champagne 44 of Acton was trapped for nearly half an hour after a head on crash on Dundas Highway with another car driven by George McGowan of Paris. Champagne sustained broken legs and hips and remained in intensive care at Oakville hospital. Police say a firewall and brake pedal had to be broken off to free him as two tow trucks and a transport pulled the cars apart. A third car was involved with no damage. damage to the two other vehicles was about $3,000.

Decoration Day Committee Meeting Open To All

First meeting of the Decoration Day committee will be held in the library Wednesday April 30 at 8 30 in the evening to plan for this year's Decoration Day on Sunday June 1. The meeting is open to the public and every interested person is urged to attend. The present committee feels that the more public participation and interest there is the more successful the day will be.

Accidents Distract Acton Streets Over Past Week

Acton O P P reports three accidents across Acton streets. A town truck driven by Douglas Garrett collides with Kathe Duess in a 1966 Volkswagen on Jeffrey Street at Elizabeth Drive causing front left fender damage estimated at 400 dollars and a 50 dollar fender loss on the truck. A 1969 Ford driven by Douglas Christie is struck in Brewers Retail parking lot with 80 dollars damage to the left door. A third collision involves vehicles on Main Street near Brooks in Milton with damage unspecified.
