New Classroom Flags Presented At MZ Bennett School
Lakeside Chapter of the LO.D.E. presented new Canadian flags for each classroom at MZ Bennett Public School during an afternoon ceremony. Christine Brunelle moderated from Grade VII, with Mrs. Nelles and six members presenting flags to representatives from each grade as students sang O Canada and God Save the Queen.

The Spring Thankoffering of the Baptist Mission Circle gathered visitors from George Town Hillsburg Toronto and Hamilton for a Monday evening program in the church. Rev Gordon Holmes of Hamilton introduced Rev and Mrs F Crossman from Hamilton who spoke about their India mission trip with slides. Miss Laura Allen and Mrs J B McLaren attended as pioneer missionaries in India. Mrs Fielding and other officers offered prayers and thanks, followed by fellowship in the basement.

Brownies of the Third Acton Brownie Pack spent a successful day during Easter holiday week. Activities included cooking breakfast soup and sandwiches washing dishes indoor and outdoor games and readings. Mary Watson earned a collectors badge Valerie Mitchell received a service star. They sewed sit-upons and little aprons. Nellie Van der Kooy and Betty Ginger assisted with semaphore.

Priest's Brother Dies in Hamilton at 78
Joseph A Morgan, brother of Rev W J Morgan of St. Joseph's Church Acton, died at St Joseph's Hospital Hamilton on Sunday April 17 in his 79th year. Husband of the late Angela Duggan he was father to Kevin Thomas Mrs Steve Stoke Anne William John and Terry all of Hamilton. Survived by many relatives including Mrs Jack Denny Rockwood Ontario and Sister M Rosanne Notre Dame Convent Waterdown. Predeceased by son Patrick killed in action in World War II. Requiem Mass held at St John the Baptist Church April 20 with interment in Holy Sepulchre cemetery Hamilton.

Maple Leaf Quilt Bazaar Door Prize
The St Albans Church W A held a parish meeting at the hall on April 13 with 10 members. President Mrs J Rol led prayers for two recently deceased members. Plans were set to knit a maple leaf centennial quilt as a November bazaar door prize. Members packed clothing for shipment to Hamilton for sorting and distribution to those in need at home and abroad.

Buys Practice Bart J Maydan LLB who joined with C F Leatherland QC last August has bought the Van Sickler Georgetown law practice and started on Tuesday. Maydan formerly of Toronto was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1957 and Ontario Bar in 1959. He practiced privately then worked with Farm Credit Corporation Ontario Labour Relations Board and Industrial Development Bank before moving to Acton. Friends in Acton wish him success.

Need for Bandages Told U C W Unit 2
Trinity Church U C W Unit Two met April 12 in parish halls with Mrs Veldhuis chairing. Members observed two minutes of silence for Annie Shaw and heard reports on sick visitors, cards for shut ins, and plans for a Golden Wedding anniversary. A call went out for bandages for lepers and a cash donation to Fred Victor Mission. Twenty four members attended. 27 visits were made and a social lunch followed.

Manor Auxiliary Sees Constitution Read At Meeting
Proposed constitutions for the Ontario Association of Homes for the Aged Ladies Auxiliary were read at the Halton Centennial Manor meeting. President Mrs Allen opened with a prayer, a bazaar plan was discussed, and invitations were sent to nearby auxiliaries. The group received a quilt from Mrs Cossar of RR 1 Georgetown.
