Acton Council Sets Hockey Club Gate Split Plan
Acton Council agreed to loan 100 dollars to the Acton Hockey Club to cover a season deficit with repayment from 1937 38 receipts. For next season gate receipts will be split 50 50 between the Hockey Club and the Council. Members favored funding from club funds rather than taxes and urged 25 water meters purchases to curb waste.

The Rockalong Institute met at Mrs. Cole's home with vice president Mrs. Plank presiding. Mrs. Wm McNabb led the program including talks on East West Home is Best and Child Welfare, a girls conference report by Mrs. Veit, a solo, an instrument number, and a candy contest won by Mrs. Wm McNabb who received a Canary donated by Mrs. Bayne. The group adjourned after refreshments and planned another community evening to close the season.

Fire at Milton Threatens Old Block and Stores
A blaze touched three adjacent timber buildings on a Milton street near a grocery store operated by Eddyund Syer. Firefighters arrived quickly. wind direction helped prevent spread. A rear warehouse suffered about $2,000 in damage and all buildings were insured.

Esquesing Council Holds Emergent and Regular Sessions
The Esquesing Council met in emergent session on Friday afternoon with Reeve George Currie presiding and Deputy Reeve N A Robinson and councillors W A Wilson C H May and Edwin Warrop present. The board accepted J D Adams Ltd tender for a trader at 1440 less 900 for old grader and sought Highway approval. A subsequent emergent meeting approved raising road maintenance funds by 3000 with subsidy request and Floyd Barnes paid 180 per hour. Regular December meeting approved by law to increase road expenditure and adjourned to April 12.

Arm Crushed in Wringer Injury at Home
Two year old Kenneth Maing son of Mr and Mrs Alex Maing suffered a severe arm crush injury when his arm was caught in a wringer at home on Monday The forearm bone was broken and the elbow only slightly injured He was taken to Guelph hospital where X rays showed favorable progress and the limb is recovering patiently The accident occurred while the child played about the house and he is under care in hospital

Scout Mothers Meet at Mrs Kentner Home
The Scout Mothers Association held its regular monthly meeting at Mrs John Kentner's home on Monday evening. One Killed in Highway Crash West of Acton
A fatal crash Saturday near Acton left Lynne Baines of Preston dead en route to Guelph hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the highway. Passenger John Rumstedler, 16, Preston, escaped with minor injuries. driver Ernest Segsworth of Acton and other occupants uninjured. The accident, investigated by Chief McPherson and Officer Howell, prompted an inquest.
