A local three act comedy titled The Clay's the Thing will be shown at Town Hall next Wednesday evening. All characters are local, with Churchill Orchestra in attendance. Proceeds go to relief and charity. The Customs Office telephone has been reinstated aiding routine transactions.
Esquesing Council met at Stewart town to approve by-laws and set wage rates for 1932. Debates covered road work tenders, charity goods purchases, and lighting projects while adjusting salaries and approving payrolls for village services.
A lightning strike destroyed the large Hasenecker and Asbeck barns at Esquesing near Glen Williams early last Friday, burning livestock grain and new implements. Separately, a $200,000 fraud case ends with the arrest of Francis Byles in Goderich for false pretences tied to a dairy merger scheme in three Western Ontario counties. A Jr I O D E Euchre and Dance is announced for April 26 in the Parish Hall.
Acton council approves a $20,000 bequest from the estate of James Albert Murray to fund municipal needs and secure annual payments to Mrs. Marietta Murray. The council also discusses roof and chimney repairs at the town hall, space for the Acton Citizens Band, and keys to manage the trust with the Bank of Montreal. A special meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening.

Oakville plans a banquet to honor its Intermediate O H A hockey team that reached the semi finals, with players to be recognized and the Council attending. Mayor J B Moat calls them the best Intermediate team in the province despite a semi final loss to Windsor Mic Macs due to injuries.
A Salvation Army appeal describes aiding a man identified as a leading figure from a major Canadian city and paying his fare home. The notice urges public generosity as collectors will visit soon to raise funds for missionary and social work and housing the poor.
At the Acton school board meeting the burglary in the basement was discussed as police investigate after window entry. A committee was formed to arrange student transport for the upcoming Musical Festival with over 100 Acton pupils expected to attend.
The Acton Women's Institute held its monthly meeting at a member's home with singing and prayer. They voted to host a euchre and dance in the Town Hall for relief, heard papers by Mrs. Lantz, and learned a contest winner was Mrs. Lantz and Mrs. Davidson with Mrs. Alex Bell as consolation.
A large turnout of about 250 farmers met in Acton Town Hall to push for lower rural telephone rates and to consider broader farmer organization. The meeting featured Mr. Bruyns on prosperity through farming and debates on the U F O with D A Russell and H Hannam drawing applause.
