The St Albans Guild held a parish hall meeting with members from other churches. Rev Wright of Aldershot spoke on the shortage of youths joining church work. A musical program followed with piano solos by Mrs Wl Ruddock, a Peggy and Francis Oakes duet, and Yvonne Brunnette with Mrs Oakes. Lunch was served by the committee.

Cement Front From Maher’s Shoe Store Topples Onto Street
Early yesterday morning a large block of cement coping from Maher’s Shoe Store on Mill Street fell from the storefront. It dropped onto the awning and rolled onto the roadway as frost loosened the block. Pedestrians were scarce and escaped injury. The distance noted is 4.43 miles from St John's Nild to Prince Rupert BC.

Standing fourth in all Canada for milk production last year was Huntshaven Supreme Pabst a Holstein from Dr. Paul Beer Georgetown. As a senior three year old on 2x milking she produced 20.2251 pounds of milk and 718 pounds of butterfat.

Naptha Gasoline Explosion Wrecks Kitchen in Darby Home
A naptha gasoline explosion in Mrs. Robi Darby’s John Street kitchen severely burned her face and shoulders and caused a fire that damaged appliances including a washer and frigidaire. The blast sent soot through a half block, blew out two kitchen windows, and damaged the adjoining unit but was contained to the kitchen. Insurance covered the damage estimated around two thousand dollars. Darby had moved cleaning outside but brought naptha inside due to cool weather.
