In a Friday meeting the Public Utilities Commission discussed thirteenth power bill net profit of 1008.80 after depreciation 1368.00 and a funding balance of 39494.60. They authorized payments to Ontario Hydro Bell Telephone King McEachern and others, began meter repairs and user notices, and planned pay and rate policy including a ten percent rebate for commercial and power accounts and twenty percent on domestic accounts.

Ontario Budget Highlights Show Large Deficits Ahead
Premier Hepburn presented the first Liberal budget since 1904 with a deficit for the year ending October 31 1934 totaling about 30 million dollars and a projected deficit of around 14 million for the new fiscal year starting April 1 1935. The plan includes direct relief costs, a revised fiscal year, a new succession duty tax, stock transfer tax coverage, and a 25 000 grant for Lieutenant-Governor residence maintenance.

Highway Fatality Near Georgetown After Passing Truck
A transient, 41 year old man named Boyd died after being struck on the Guelph Toronto Highway near Georgetown. He and companion Cornelus Sullivan were walking along the south side toward Acton when Boyd stepped into the path of a Waterloo driver Fred R Rueffer's car. Sullivan escaped uninjured. Boyd died at Guelph General Hospital a few hours after admission. Coroner J A McNiven conducted an inquest with Crown Attorney W J Dirkw Walton. Sullivan was questioned and the hearing adjourned for one week.
