The finance committee recommends a 113708.46 budget for the coming year covering schools streets library police health welfare and public works with articles to fund road and tree care cemetery changes and new town hall chairs. It notes about 17000 of the town grant funds relief measures and warns of at least seven dollars per thousand tax impact. Concord hosts The Movie Queen Amateur Guild Production at Veterans Building. Edwin W. Arnold directs with about a hundred locals in cast and crew. fashion show and moving picture reels accompany the lively comedy with Cornelia Lawrence as Mary Brown and Joseph McGann as Jimmy Cain.
Grace Eliz abeth Ployart daughter of Mr and Mrs William Ployart of Maple street married Raymond Neal Moody of 11 Maple street at St Bridget s church rectory in Maynard on Saturday night Rev Walter Roche officiated. Sister Miles Evelyn Fiogart attended as bridesmaid with Kenneth Prue as best man. A reception at Sudbury Arms followed and the couple will live in Waltham after a wedding trip. Grace a Maynard high school and Massachusetts General Hospital School for Nursing graduate.
Acton Twelve members of the Acton Garden Club met at Mrs. Joseph FitzGibbons home for a round table on house plant care. Exhibits included a Star Cactus and a Kalanchee. A March 8 meeting will feature John C. Handy on seed germination with animated films. 4 H garden club girls will be invited and organized for the season.
Deputy superintendent Maynard-Claflin of the Boston Police is feted at Cooperative Hall in Maynard. Nearly 20 locals attend a testimonial dinner with gifts including an easy chair from Maynard friends. Speakers from law enforcement and politics lauded his service, while telegrams from Frank Murray and James Ledgard are noted.
The Boston B R A Symphony Orchestra of 42 pieces will perform Friday evening in the high school auditorium. Donors cover transportation costs and the event is open to all. Local vocalist Charles Manty will participate. The concert is arranged for Maynard and nearby communities by Rev. M. A. Vance ERA administrator.

Ash Wednesday program at St George's church included Holy Communion at 10 and a study hour led by Miss Claris Towne of Boston followed by a basket lunch and sewing for women. A preparation service is set for 7 this evening. St Hilda's Guild meets tomorrow at Mrs Charles Spence's Summer Street home. Boys' activity at the arten forge listed.
Sudbury voted 400 voters in an annual town meeting approving 50 220.51 dollars in total appropriations plus 26 200 for the school budget. Howard M. Goodnow won a three year selectman seat by 248 to 245 over John C. Hall. Paul H. Ecke beat Theodore R. Harding for a two year planning board term, 271 to 195. Other elected officials include Robert C. Woodberry library trustee 300 212, town moderator John C. Hall 459, town clerk Frank F. Gerry 478, health board Richard B. Olione 453, highway surveyor Harlan H. Noyes 421, and several other town posts with varying vote totals.
At the Concord Armory meeting the Tercentenary committee proposal to buy a $2500 Major Simon Willard bust from the Hapgood Wright fund faced sharp opposition and was rejected. The fund instead allocates $3500 for the town forest purchase “Lairyland” and restores Hapgood Wright portraits with a memorial to Willard on Willard common.
Lively Maynard town meeting packed Cooperative Hall on Monday night. Officials and the finance committee clashed over the school appropriation of 89,418 dollars with no restoration of teacher pay cuts, and an attempted amendment was ruled out of order. Attorney McCleary and Moderator King oversaw a tense session as the warrant limited action and a dispute over amounts backed by the school committee emerged.
Miss May J. Wood of Bedford died after a two day illness from pneumonia. Born March 17 1876 she was a longtime Harvard Square cashier and active in local politics clubs and church affairs. She is survived by her mother sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held at Hillside Avenue with burial in Shawsheen cemetery.
Large crowd attended a beano game at the Grange hall last Friday night to support St Michael's building fund. Mrs Phillip Tackney of Concord road is seriously ill in a Woburn hospital after an operation last Saturday.
A Thursday afternoon bridge and whist party at Mrs Edwin Qua’s Springs Road home supported the Parent Teachers Association. Bridge prizes went to Mrs Emma Brewster Mrs Esther Jones Mrs Sally Converse and Mrs Bertha Clark. Whist prizes honored Mrs Marion Winchenbaugh Mrs Mansfield and Mrs Shea with consolation to Mrs B Cole and Mrs Hanson. Door prize awarded to Mrs Edwin Jones. Celestina prim ianno and son Srenk ani Guiseppi Porrazizo attended the centro.
The annual town caucus elected Herbert L. Clark and James Rouse as selectmen and Earl Awood as public welfare commissioner. Moderator Claude Palmer and road commissioner nominees were confirmed with votes seen for Adelbert Perkins and Warren Rivet among others. The tally included Clark 616 and Wellington 0.5, Rivet 4, and Sullivan 2 with other names listed in the results.
The drive to recruit new members was inaugurated under the direction of a fence and the grand knight, with the committee in charge led by former grand kp Farrell, John Hanna han, William Smith, Joseph Byrne, Grath, Sylvester, Frank J McCarron, and Stanley Stia.
