Mr and Mrs George I McCormack of 170 Main street celebrated their golden anniversary with an open house for neighbors and townspeople. Messages cards flowers and gifts filled the day as their children assisted, with a card from Martin Rooney of Butte Montana among the greetings.
Concord Police Department edged Maynard Finest by one stroke in a Maynard Country Club match. The controversial winning shot came when Sergeant Witherell, stuck in a sand trap, was hit by Eddie Lawton s drive and the ball rolled to the green for Lawton to putt in. Concord lineup: Chief William Ryan, Sergeant Witherell, Patrolman Eddie Lawton. Maynard: Chief Henry Piecewicz, Patrolman Eddie Johnston, Mike Zapareski.
Mrs Mary Grigas 54 died after a short illness at home 6 Sudbury Court Maynard. Survived by husband’s absence of 14 months and five daughters and three sons. Funeral at her home then a nine o clock requiem mass at St Bridget’s. Burial in family lot with floral tributes. Cambridge Lestman and Sara Morgan attended.

Patrick McGrath of Maynard has been reappointed district deputy of the Knights of Columbus by state deputy Patrick Moynih.
