Iowa Supreme Court Rules Dogs May Not Bite Except When Law Violations Occur
Sioux City May 19. In a Sioux county case first decided by Judge Wakefield, the Iowa Supreme Court holds that dogs cannot lawfully bite unless the person bitten is engaged in breaking the law. Canines have no right to retaliate for past injuries. The court previously said a child’s sticks and stones contributed to injury and that owners must pay. The decision is reversed and a dog's first bite marks habitual behavior.
