In Cleveland May 12 Pranels J. Cheney of Central New York introduced a resolution disclaiming responsibility for Rev Dr Quayle of Misgonzi's utterances about the Christian Endeavor Society. Minnesota Geographer Claims Missouri River Source Found

Colonel Brower, Minnesota state geographer, declares the Missouri River source is not Red Rock Lake Montana as claimed by Dr Miller. State Guard Officers Face Court Martial Over Election Conduct

Des Moines May 1. Several officers of the State Guard are slated for court martial on charges of misconduct surrounding the brigadier election. Brigadier General Wright allegedly did not canvass returns. Named officers include Colonel James A. Guest and Colonel A Weigand, with Lt Colonel Loper and Major Matthews among others. Accusers say the officers enlisted men just before the election and may be disciplined while on full pay for the trial period, a costly arrangement for the state.

Old Man Burned in Bed in Oskaloosa Fire

Frank J. Koffka, 36, father of Louis Baumgart, burned to death in a house fire at Louis Baumgart's residence in Oskaloosa. Inmates found him in his room after flames started, and rescue proved impossible. Koffka, native of Bohemia, had resided in America and Oskaloosa for over forty years.

Town Students Lost in a Mine Near Evang Iowa

May 12 Evang mining town five miles west of Oskaloosa. A Penn College professor and several students Demonstrated in the mine. Two students strayed two miles from the entrance and are feared to have wandered into a deserted room and suffocated by black damp. Search is under way as officials fear the worst.

Des Moines Iowa May 12 The attorneys for murderer Dawson who was convicted last week of murder in the second degree have filed a motion for a new trial They claim among other things that a juror disclosed the jury's action before the verdict was returned to court The move follows the conviction in a second degree murder case involving Dawson and prompts further legal action.
