Iowa News Letter Scandals and Civic Updates
The governor pardoned 14 year old Charles Barris for breaking and entering, with escort home by jail officials and his father G. E B. Harvria serving a two year term for the same crime. Des Moines legal actions include a stay denial on liquor price injunctions and Cassatt’s continued confinement after a suicide attempt. Burlington plans a monument to Gen John Corse, while Polk County seeks an injunction over refunding bonds amid large city debts. Postmaster salaries rise or fall across many towns as adjustments take effect July 1.

Nearby items report the Jefferson state meet of the American Wheelmen with rich prizes, a suspected infanticide case in Keokuk, a finance move in Sioux City, a burglary shootout in Creston, and several weather, crime, and local government notes across the state.
