Queer Accidents to Guns aboard British Battleship Thunderer

A base plate and portion of the frame remained in the gun and gas pressure blew a fragment from the breech. On the second gun a three inch diameter bale blew through the projectile and the base plate separated. Alarm arose in the turret though both guns appear sound. It is thought damp powder or water in the guns caused the incidents.
