London reports the British steam er Santarense ran aground in Para after colliding with the British bark Dundonald from San Francisco. The Dundonald escaped in an unleaky, damaged state with Santarense aboard. Passengers were landed at Para by the Norwegian barque Hiuwatha.

In La Plata Maryland Joseph Cocking awaiting trial for the April murder of his wife and sister in law was dragged from a jail shed early this morning and hanged from a tree.
