August Neuman died after months of illness. Born March 21, 1863 in Brandenburg Germany, he immigrated with his family to Wisconsin then Hardin County and Ackley. He taught school, served as township assessor, posted as a town postmaster, and sat on the Hardin board of supervisors. Survived by his father two brothers and several sisters. Funeral at Neuman home Wednesday afternoon. Infant daughter of Mr and Mrs E H McCoy died. burial in Calvary. Ruth Eliott to Chicago for three weeks.

George F Breithaupt dies after long life of ventures and service
George F Breithaupt born in Baden Baden Germany in 1831 traveled to California in 1852 chasing gold. He survived a shipwreck with $10,000 in gold en route to the east, later believed treasure might still be found. A longtime Ackley resident since 1871 he was a father of twelve and held Knights of Pythias and Masonic memberships. His funeral included both Masonic and Pythian rites with a large community gathering.
