Berlin January 27 United States ambassador to Germany Theodore Runyon died suddenly at one o clock from heart failure after months of feeble health. Born October 25 1822 Summerville New Jersey he rose from Newark city attorney to mayor and chancellor of New Jersey later serving as minister to Germany and ambassador. His career included militia reforms and Civil War command followed by public service in New Jersey and Yale Rutgers and Wesleyan LL D degrees.
