Illinois Central World’s Fair Trains Carry 9.5 Million Passengers
The Illinois Central system reports six months of world’s fair traffic with 9,540,791 total riders on suburban and special lines, over 4,000,000 to Jackson Park, no passenger deaths, and strong safety improvements. It notes 40,116 special trains and 368,738 cars, with substantial expenditures for tracks, cars, and signaling, yielding a large net surplus after adjustments.
