The report details inflated clerk office costs, misallocated line items, and a payroll far above neighboring Hoquiam, with salaries totaling 119 547 12 annually.
The murder of Oscar Framke by Tona Poetros is postponed until the next regular term of Chehalis County Superior Court. W. J. Patterson is constructing a state of the art tennis court behind his Fourth and K streets home. The 70 by 120 foot court will be concrete with a four inch asphalt surface, regarded as one of the most modern and expensive in the region.
Montesano Sept 26 The Chehalis county board of commissioners tabled a resolution for a November bond election and an appropriation of 250000 for road building with 3500 to aid the Chehalis county fair at Electric park between Aberdeen and Hoquiam. They discussed tax plans, opened bids for Salmon creek bridge, and awarded the contract to James Howland for 650.
The Bull Moose campaign on Grays Harbor opened last night at the Empire theater with over 200 supporters present. Speakers included Robert T. Hodge of Seattle Stan ton Warburton of Tacoma and N H Ford candidates for governor congressman from the second district and secretary of state. They praised the party leader and Hodge highlighted his sheriff career in King County. Ford spoke briefly and cited a Minneapolis Journal prophecy about Col Roosevelt.
J E Frost of Ellensburg Republican nominee for congressman at large urged coordinated harbor action at Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce. He proposed using idle machinery from Panama Canal completion to improve coast harbors and urged Western coast and Mexican gulf cities to plan together. He cited Washington’s land tillage growth and Panama Canal prospects. City budget inquiry received a week extension as officials agreed to meet Monday night to discuss the matter.
Chris Peterson an expressman loses two horses when a runaway near Wilson mill ends with the team plunging from the mill dock into the Chehalis river. Peterson narrowly escapes death while trying to save them as the horses sink and are not recovered.
Dan Pearsall departed yesterday afternoon for Tacoma as advance agent for Taft speakers in the Republican state campaign. He received official notice of his appointment to his present position Tuesday.
