Hoquiam receives a 500 horsepower engine for the electric light company. Dr. Rossiter hospital rumor, Moclips improvements, and a stream of local moves and visits fill Chehalis County notes. Several towns report school taxes, firings of staff, and community events including Women of Woodcraft, lodge formations, and a chair gift to band leader H. C. Winston.
M B Shambley of Porter spent Tuesday night in Elma. A surprise party was held Tuesday for Myrtle Werts on her sixth birthday. Mrs Clemons of Montesano visited sister Mrs James Glancey Tuesday evening. Mrs Amsler traveled to Tacoma this week for her brother in law’s death, and in her absence Mrs Albert Gebhart ran the bakery.
Miss Lois Zeebuyth spent part of the week in Aberdeen. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Wm Moore of this city on the 11th inst. Simmons and Byles lost a driving horse valued at 150 dollars by sickness last Friday night. E F Foster will remove his family to Orosta soon where he will engage in the logging business. J P Winters sold his timber claim near here to Congressman Fordney of Michigan for 1600 dollars. Mr and Mrs James Cleveland of Spokane are guests of Dr and Mrs Wartman. the two ladies are sisters. Miss Barbara Stine is up from Aberdeen visiting her cousin Mrs B F Wilkins and will leave soon for Seattle. Marshal Cooper of Hoquiam brought a Westport life saving crew member named Peterson to the county jail. Peterson is insane and believes someone poisons him. Karl Craig aged about 21 died at his home in Burbank California on August 28 of consumption. The family moved to California last year due to the boy’s illness. There was spirited bidding at the courthouse Saturday for the lease of lots 5 6 and 7 section 16017 8 state school land. George Hubble won at 45 cents an acre per year on land on the south side of Chehalis at the Chehalis Room.
W P Whitehead of Kennedale Texas reports distressing pains in head back and stomach and lack of appetite improved after using Dr Kings New Life Pills claiming to feel like a new man The pills are offered for 25 cents at Smits Drug Co drug store which markets them as infallible for stomach and liver troubles.

John B Hart will defend Mrs Underwood as she remains jailed and anxious, while Underwood grows fleshy and confident of acquittal.
