Tacoma Engineer Narrowly Escapes Tide Flat Tragedy
J. G. Sill of Tacoma, a telephone company engineer, nearly lost his life on a tide flat fill. He sank to his waist in soft mud while crossing the flats and, reaching chest depth, called for help. Linemen responded and he was extricated after a tense rescue.
