Insurgents Take Over Senate As Dismayed Regulars Falter
Senator William J. Stone of Missouri outlines a vision of a Senate ruled by insurgents with Cummins as a leader replacement for Aldrich and Lodge, while Clapp and Beveridge reshape committees and harmony echoes through the chamber. He says regulars capitulated on Friday the thirteenth and predicts ongoing shifts in leadership and influence. Stone criticizes both parties and warns officials not to meddle with legislation as the House vows the bill is only a skeleton of the original measure.
