Drowned while fishing in Humptulips River
D. Ernest McGee son of Hoquiam furniture dealer W B Mc Gee drowned yesterday afternoon while fishing with a companion Irwin on a log in the Humptulips river. A flood swept them off the log and McGee disappeared downstream. two Aberdeen printers C E Dyke and B L Beall rescued Irwin and searched the river for McGee, with the body expected to be found downstream.

Lumber Trade Sees Strong Demand in April 1910
The Pacific Coast Lumber Manufacturers' Association reports 45 mills answered inquiries showing April 1910 shipments more than double April 1909. Most mills said trade satisfactory with 36 noting it. 10 said increasing, 9 decreasing, 21 stationary. Aggregate orders keep mills busy about 5.3 weeks. Car supply deemed good by 38 mills.

National Guard Officers Promoted in Aberdeen and Hoguian
The Aberdeen and Hoguian National Guard units announce officer changes and promotions. Captain O R Austin moves to the medical corps with captain’s rank, First Lieutenant R H Fleet becomes adjutant of the second battalion, and Sergeant Robert Robertson Jr is commissioned second lieutenant. Youthful horse thief whetted by Aberdeen theft case
Thirteen year old Cornelius Hayes, son of Martin L. Hayes, rode off on Gordon Simmons horse near the Montesano depot Thursday. The horse dumped him before entering Aberdeen. Deputy Matthews tracked the horse to East Aberdeen, seized it, and the boy was taken in. He admitted the theft and was held overnight, then heard in Montesano and dismissed with a warning due to his age and family sympathy.

The dredger Oregon completed work near Grays Harbor City and has moved to the main channel off the Federal mill Aberdeen to dredge the Montesano bar. When finished, depths will average 17 feet at Montesano 20 feet at Cosmopolis and 22 feet from Aberdeen down at mean low water.
