Man Burned in Lodging House Fire in Colorado District

Fire broke out early Saturday at the Colorado lodging house on 802 South F street. Fisherman Stephen Hanscombe, known as Black Steve, died from injuries at St Joseph's hospital. The blaze damaged the Colorado lodging house, Club saloon, Grand saloon, and Sailors' union offices. total damage about 1500 dollars. Hanscombe may have started the fire with a lighted pipe or match.

Wishkah School Closes Successful Year Under Local Directors

The Wishkah public school ended a successful year under Miss Julia R Johnson and fellow teachers T Boitean and Hazel Johnson. Pupils and parents rewarded teachers with books for excellence and attendance. Jewell Compton graduated from the eighth grade and is expected to enter Aberdeen high school.

In Montesano Judge Irwin denied US citizenship to two I W W members Jacob Johnson and George Jacobs Kiriacotoulos of Aberdeen after hearings with examiner Henry Hazard. The court ruled I W W affiliation or sympathy with it disqualifies individuals from naturalization. Ragnar Nystrom was also denied for deserting a German ship in 1906 and faces deportation. all three may reapply in five years with I W W affiliation on record.

Hoquiam defeats Aberdeen 13 to 9 in a tight game at Electric Park as Hoquiam moves into a share of second place with Aberdeen. Reams homered for Aberdeen and Kane held Hoquiam to early runs, but three late Hoquiam innings sealed the win. earlier Aberdeen won 5 to 2 in another closely contested game.
