Reciprocity passes Senate in Canada trade pact vote

The reciprocity bill between the United States and Canada cleared the Senate 53 to 27 with 32 Democrats and 21 Republicans voting for it. President Taft praised the passage as boosting mutual relations. Senator Penrose led the fight for reciprocity and predicted adjournment by August 9 to 19, as next week’s Senate debates focus on the wool tariff and related substitutes.
