Huge crowds attend a Hoquiam celebration as the event features a local militia organization winning first premium for handsome uniforms and a prominent prize awarded to the company G.
The third annual Grays Harbor Splash excited crowds across Hoquiam with a splendiferous parade, water sports, and street attractions. Mayor J. S. McKee presided as prizes were awarded to Washington National Guard Company G, Polish National Alliance, United Spanish War Veterans, and local businesses. Ohio-born spectacle featured water contests, floats, and a notable appearance by blind chaplain Rev. H. N. Couden.
G A R veterans take part in Fourth of July events in Hoquiam and Aberdeen amid War era reminiscences. Leaders like Mayor Phillips and Congressman Albert Johnson address gatherings as G A R and Spanish war veterans rehearse arms drills and celebrate American patriotism through splash of activities and a belated Grays Harbor Splash kickoff.

Fire started in the kitchen between stove and wall where peeling paper lay. Firemen battled the blaze but could only save the walls. An earlier alarm at Simpson Avenue and Wooding Street reported a brush fire, extinguished before reaching a dwelling under construction.
Tacoma Tigers arrive at 1 10 by train to clash with the Black Cats at Electric Park at 3 this afternoon. A two game day follows with 10 30 a m and 3 p m starts. Friday features boxing bout between John S Barnes and James Bowes as part of a carnival program with a five inning game and public events.

A Milwaukee southbound passenger train fell 40 feet through a trestle near Rainier causing multiple deaths and injuries. Fireman W S Pedicord died later in Tacoma hospital. Engineer W H Baldwin also died. The wreck involved a Northern Pacific freight train and a crane. Twelve others were hospitalized with serious injuries.
