Queen Victoria dies at Osborne House Isle of Wight aged about 82. Her sixty three year reign saw vast growth in England and its empire while rural land value lagged. Her era opened with rudimentary rail and telegraph and ended with modern inventions like the telephone and electric light.

Death of Montesano Marshal Lyman Landon
Lyman Landon, 55, Mont esano city marshal and street commissioner, died at his Montesano residence on Saturday January 19 1901 after a pneumonia illness. He was born October 1 1845 in Sudbury Vermont and married Mary A Ward February 6 1869 in Pittsburg Vermont. Survived by wife four sons Rolland George Edward James and daughter Mrs Lillie M Taylor. Funeral held at the Christian church in Montesano.

Silver Wedding Bells Celebrate Crawford Twenty Fifth Anniversary
The Congregational church in Aberdeen hosted the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Rev H D Crawford and wife Tuesday evening. A full program featured music recitations poems and a silver plate gift. After ceremonies a reception and supper followed with decorations and many silverware presents from eastern friends.
