Aberdeen Notes Terse Town Life From Last Week
Mr. and Mrs. C. F. White visited from Seattle. Several residents traveled to Seattle and Vancouver for visits and ABA sessions. Labor Day plans stir Aberdeen Hoquiam as lawyers and locals prepare events. Major local incidents include a logging camp injury and a wrecked saloon fire. Dredge work finishes the harbor channel ahead of schedule.

Stevedore Trouble Delays Two Greenwhich and Craighall Ships
Two large English owned steamers the Greenwich and the Craighall have been delayed since last Wednesday due to a fight between rival Seattle Tacoma stevedoring firms McCabe & Hamilton and Rothschild & Co over loading control in Northwest ports. The Longshoremen Union joined Rothschild, complicating McCabe’s loading contracts. The Greenwich crew resisted an arrangement binding owners Watts & Watts of London to Rothschild for five years, impractical given Rothschild’s 190 ships. Meanwhile Slade Lumber Co suffers over 2,000,000 feet of lumber stranded on deck until loading is resolved.
