The Aberdeen Aerie FOE held its eleventh annual clambake at Westport attracting one of the season’s largest crowds. Harbor passenger craft were fully utilized to ferry attendees who returned late in the day tired but content.

Waterways Commission to Visit Pacific Harbors

The National Waterways Commission led by Senator Theodore K. Burton departs Washington around September 10 to inspect harbor work on the Pacific coast. Aberdeen will host inspecting jetty operations at Brown's Point with local hospitality arranged through Senator S. H. Piles and the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce. The delegation includes Vice-chairman J. H. Gallinger and members Senators Piles, Smith, Simmons, Clark, Lorrimer and Congressmen Alexander, Stevens, Wagner, Sparkman, and Moon.

Auto clubs plan Seattle gathering to form Western Washington association

Chehalis county automobile club members are invited to travel Harbor to Seattle as guests of the Seattle auto club early next week. Invitations have been sent to clubs in Vancouver BC Bellingham Everett Olympia Vancouver Wash and Portland to form a Western Washington association at a meeting September 4 at the Washington Hotel annex.

Greatest Shooting Contests at Camp Perry Ohio

Veterans from all states participate in rifle and pistol matches at Camp Perry under Col. R K Evans. The Wimbledon cup match at 1000 yards draws top prizes including gold silver and bronze medals and cash awards. A large force of men works along the Oregon and Washington railway toward completing the Grays Harbor branch for passenger traffic set to begin September 1. Between Cosmopolis and the Chehalis river in South Aberdeen crews finish road beds and ballast while trestles and ballast work continue.
