Sir Wilfrid Laurier announced a government Grand Pacific contract to build a national railway from Moncton New Brunswick to Port Simpson on the Pacific a distance of 8300 miles. The state will finance Moncton to Winnipeg with a 50 year lease to the company and a seven year free period.
