Tacoma the City of Destiny Promised as Puget Sound Future
Chauncey Thomas in 1907 argues Tacoma will surpass Seattle as the Pacific Northwest hub. He cites Tacoma's harbor, water power from Mount Rainier, and coal resources, predicting rail improvements will shift traffic from Seattle to Tacoma and Grays Harbor becoming a Boston-like center. He envisions population growth across the Pacific Coast, with Puget Sound cities rising to major urban roles.
