Aberdeen column recaps small town happenings: visits by Mrs. Knapp to Portland, Mrs. Smith from Seattle in town, A. W. Barkley traveling to Seattle, Dr. Chamberlain listed with rooms, and Evans Drug Co. promotions. Also notes on Elks social, baseball games, railroad delays, boxing draw, and community meetings at churches and halls.
Court docket from Montesano lists Judge Irwin Prosecution and Defense attorneys, witnesses for both sides, and court staff. The record notes a Congregational church event on Thursday April 28, 1908 with admission 25 cents.
Multiple vessels including the Oceania Vance, Golden Shore, and G. C. Lindauer load at Slade, Wilson, Aberdeen Lumber, and other mills for San Francisco. Ships also sail to San Pedro and Guaymas, with the Saginaw making its maiden cargo. The Chas. E. Falk and Chas. R. Wilson plus A. B. Johnson arrive for loading.
Chicago, April 22. A coroner’s jury failed to hold Harry B. Hewitt to the grand jury over the death of Susie Simpson in an auto crash at Central Park and Franklin. The grand jury was asked to indict Hewitt. H. H. Stommil and Captain Tyrrill faced speed violations. Buckwalter, the chauffeur, was held for the grand jury. Hewitt and Stommil bonded for Wednesday appearance before Judge Wells. The Simpsons sought action against Hewitt, Stommil, and Buckwalter.
