Tent Pole Stock Ordered for U S War Department
Twenty cars of tent pole stock have been ordered by the United States government from the Grays Harbor Commercial company of Cosmopolis. One car has shipped and two more are loading. The poles, for army use, are clear fir. Railway officers are to give Grays Harbor Commercial priority, excluding other shippers. This is the first such order from Grays Harbor since the war declaration.

Young Benn Passes Navy Physical at Bremerton Yard

John Kelleher aged 66 died Wednesday in a local hospital after a short illness. The body was moved to Whiteside Undertaking company parlors. Funeral arrangements are not yet set. He resided in Cosmopolis.

Montesano April 13 six persons of Austrian birth are among 24 aliens who have taken out first papers for citizenship since April 1. Each Austrian states the papers are to enable him to enlist in the U S service. One Montenegrin who recently filed joined Company G.

Wooden ships plan approved by Wilson for 1000 vessels
The Shipping Board’s program to build a fleet of 1000 wooden ships of 3000 to 3600 tons is formally approved by President Wilson. The first ship is due within five months with 10 to 15 million dollars needed shortly. A 50 million dollar congressional authorization exists, and construction aims for 200000 tons monthly. Vessels will sail to the war zone armed and leased to private concerns. Canal service and old Army transports will join coast to coast trade via the Panama Canal, with no plan to abandon the project.

Sailors May Go to California from Grays Harbor Battalion

The facility features four wards 27 private rooms surgical rooms X ray machine costing 2700 nurseries and a staff of physicians and surgeons with a nursery of six cribs for newborns.
