Mataqui Council Holds October Meeting In Municipal Hall
The Mataqui municipal council met October 2 in the Municipal hall with the reeve presiding and all members present. Minutes of the September 21 meeting were read and adopted and several communications were reviewed including road and land issues, tax adjustments, a skid-road permit for Fr M Singer Company, and a request to repair the Matequi Gate No 2 wharf. The council authorized expenditures on road work and considered joint action to deter vandalism against the B C B R Co stations.

Abbotsford held Trafalgar Day events at the Alexandria Hall despite poor weather. Rev J C Mitton and Mrs J Campbell led speakers. Nora E Green read Local branch reports. T E Parton read treasurer notes. chair MS C Hill Tout presided. Performances by S A Barrett W L Longfellow and G Kennelly drew applause. Fundraising totaled 64.25 dollars with 25 percent kept for the local Red Cross and the rest sent to the Lieutenant Governor for wounded sailors and soldiers.
