Acquired Running Rights Over Great Northern Line

An announcement on Tuesday stated that Canadian Northern Railway Company has secured running rights from the south end of New Westminster bridge to Port Kells, about ten miles up the river through Port Mann town site. The deal, long pending, was not denied by Holt of the McKenzie and Mann interests and the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company. No grading has been done to Port Kells while the survey runs parallel to the Great Northern. The move is seen as a step toward CNR gaining control of the Vancouver, Victorial and Eastern line between New Westminster and Abbotsford, with extensions planned toward the Hope mountains.
