William Cooksley, longtime New Westminster resident and former city treasurer, died at Harrison Hot Springs Hotel while recuperating. An Englishman born in Brighton about 57 years ago, he held various roles from newspaper work to photography and was active in Methodist church and local politics as a Conservative then Liberal supporter. He and his wife had been staying at Harrison Hot Springs for several weeks due to ill health.
