Happily Wedded Ryall Walters unite in Abbotsford ceremony
The wedding of Ethel Rosena Walters to Everett Nelson Ryall took place at noon on Wednesday March 10 under an ivy arch with a white bell. Rev J M Campbell officiated. The bride wore Belgium blue, carried pink carnations, and was given away by her father. They will reside in Great Falls Montana for now amid gifts and congratulations from Abbotsford friends.

At the home of Mrs J J Mc Menemy Abbotsford Mrs Thomas will host a tea from 3 to 10 pm on Wednesday March 17 for a Presbyterian church silver collection. A near-miss incident at the C P R and BC Electric tracks highlighted the need for automatic signals as a BC Rail car narrowly saved a young child crossing the main street.

Sumas Council Meeting Sees Reeve Resign and By‑election Planned
The Sumas council met with full attendance as Reeve Munroe resigned after revealing a partial property disclosure and mortgage. Straiton named temporary Reeve. by election set for March 27, with polling on March 27 and nomination March 22. Various payments approved, roads discussed, and Dr. Swift appointed health officer for 1915.
Sumas School Board Meeting Marks New Appointment
The Sum as school board met on March 6 with Trustees Roberts Austin and Straiton present. W J Fraser was duly elected and sworn to fill the vacancy. Bills approved included salaries 370, loans 15, and various small items. Tenders for firewood cards to Huntingdon school ranged from 2.10 to 2.60 per card. Inspector DeLong’s confidential report praised improvements at Huntingdon school.

Upper Sumas Women’s Institute Notes Read at Meeting
Communications from the Department of Agriculture presented at the general meeting held March last, detailing last year’s competitions. Upper Sumas led in attendance at 76 percent and earned high marks for program style and presentation. The essays contest awarded the first prize to the institute for The New Comer, with the president accepting honors. Members are urged to join while subscriptions are low to sustain the momentum.

Abbotsford Conservative Association Holds Annual Meeting
The Abbotsford Conservative Association met at Masomic hall on Tuesday March 2 1915. Minutes and treasurer’s report were read. Dr T A Swill was named president with Wm Taylor vice president and S A Morley treasurer. Committee members were C Bell J A McGowan D C Blair C Ryall and H McKinnon. Wm Taylor appointed to represent at the Central Executive. A strong vote of confidence endorsed Conservative party policies. Meeting adjourned at 9 30 pm.

May Day Practices Highlight Anabelle McPhee as Queen
May Day celebrations begin with practices in Alexandrian Hall on Tuesday and Thursday this week for the festival on May 7. Annie McPhee, daughter of J J McPhee J P Canadian Emigration Officer at Huntingdon, is named May Queen for the coming year. Voter tally shows Annie McPhee 24 votes, Marie Scote vold 21, Evelyn McMenemy 12 as top three.
