Deputies Seize Still and Beer Near Lowndesville
Deputy Sheriff T. L. Cann and two specials raided the D. Thomas property near Lowndesville Monday morning, confiscating a thirty-five gallon copper still and 120 gallons of beer. The still was found operable but no whiskey. a fruit jar of singlings, beer in the first stage, was recovered. One Negro fled as officers approached and no one was captured with the equipment. The still was later cut up in the sheriff's office.

Carmel Man Held on Narcotic Charge in Abbeville
Dr. David L. Bryson of Mt Carmel was brought to Abbeville county jail by Deputy Sheriffs T L Cann and J Bruce on a Henderson Harrison Narcotic act charge. He was arrested on a federal bench warrant and will be held on a $2,000 bond. it is reported he recently completed a one year federal sentence for the same offense.

Nickles Wins at State Fair In Judging Show
Captain G N Nickles of Due West led a prolific display at the state fair, taking 29 prizes in agricultural products judging. He won first or second in most contests, securing top honors for both corn displays and grain. Funeral of Mrs Sherard Widow of J W Sherard
Mrs Asseneth Sherard aged 89 dies at her son R S Sherard in Iva following a long life that spanned the Confederate era reconstruction and widowhood. She leaves four sons including W C Sherard and R S Sherard with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Six grandsons served as pallbearers at the funeral held in Gensestee.
